INPATIENT CARE FORUM
At the last meeting, on 14/12/09 Jo Barber outlined her Dementia Project and how she plans to evaluate the positive effects of a Musical Intervention (playing a violin) on the psychological Well Being of patients suffering with Advanced Dementia. The group were tremendously impressed with the amount of detail and thought that went into establishing testing measures using mainly Behaviour cues but also qualitative comments including self reporting where possible. The project will be videoed. It has the approval of Paul McDonald of BSMHFT and as no costs are involved will proceed unhindered. As she was unable to make today’s meeting she will hope to do a presentation next time.
Other issues touched on were a Heritage Lottery Funding application by Maureen Smokjis for her oral history project ‘Memories from the Asylum’, the BSMHFT’s Spirituality Intervention project which Jo is also involved in, Continuity of Care and Preceptorship Workshops on Multi Disciplinary working.
