Janet Qureshi

Janet, born near Wolverhampton in 1945, was, along with her twin brother, put up for adoption at an early age. They would not meet again for 61 years.

Book CoverHer adoptive mother died when Janet was only nine years old and her elderly father was then responsible for raising her, with the help of her grandmother, who proved to be a great source of strength to Janet, until she died in 1971.

Janet left school with three 'A' levels and studied nursing.  She married in 1969 but her husband was an alcoholic and they were divorced in 1974. The marriage produced a daughter. Having suffered low self-esteem since childhood and lacking confidence, her anxiety soon spiraled out of control. She has been married and divorced again since.

She worked in the retail trade for 13 years, until 1993 when she suffered a stroke, exactly one year after the birth of her first grandchild. Unable to continue working, Janet began writing poetry and this, her first published collection, is aptly named 'Aspects of Life'"

Janet has been a Service User for several years now and she is involved in various activities related to mental health. Currently, her main involvement is with the University of Birmingham and the CEIMH, to whom, she says she is "...eternally grateful to for the opportunities offered, particularly from Chipmunka, who offered to publish my work".

Her Ebook can be viewed and purchased, for £5.00, at
