Flexibility & Sustainability Bid

SJ presented the completed application which he had put together with input from Ann & Alex Davis and following a consultative meeting with Carly Cooper last Thursday. The bid is for the employment of a Developing Service User & Carer Research Skills Project Manager by B&SMHFT on Band 6 at one day a week to deliver one beginners/intermediate course and one advanced course in Research  with input from freelance trainers where necessary to improve the quantity and level of service user involvement in NIHR projects in the Heart of England Hub and the sustainability of the research workforce in particular regard to service users greater involvement.
The bid only covers staff costs that can be covered by the bid and the application is based on the assumption that funding can be provided from other sources to cover essential expenses such as travel and lunch for course participants and the Suresearch steering committee. Without funding of travel expenses Suresearch does not believe the proposal would not have an achievable outcome if accepted and without them would not be prepared to proceed. SJ will e-mail the bid application through in good time for the deadline of Sept 13th. If you wish to receive a copy of the completed application by e-mail contact SJ on above e-mail address. SJ was thanked for all the work he had put into writing up the application.

Suresearch Constitution

SJ presented the latest draft which will go out to the full Suresearch membership in the next mailout. Members will have until Thursday Sept 23 to suggest any further amendments. The Futures group will then consider these at its next meeting and finalise a final draft to be agreed and adopted at the full Suresearch Monthly meeting of October 7th. There was discussion  around the wording of point 32 and point 35. Again SJ was thanked for all his efforts in putting the draft together.

DVDs

Celebratory DVD: Following its screening at the end of the Annual Review Day last Wednesday (Sept 1st) DH made modifications based on feedback received there and is basically finished. Possibilities of it being shown again either at the CEIMH Celebratory Day (Oct 6th) or at the next Suresearch monthly meeting (Oct 7th) were discussed.

Promotional DVD: Work still in progress, DH &BN could do with some fresh input, none was forthcoming when help was requested on Sept 1st apart from PO who had been previously involved. Whilst recognising that it really should be completed before Oct 31st the facilities available at Muirhead Tower would enable it to be finished there if necessary.

Adopting Web Watch Group into the Futures Group

Due to the poor attendance at Webwatch meetings it was agreed it would become part of the Futures Group agenda in subsequent meetings. DP raised issue around lack of technical know all but was reassured the main issue of the group was the Suresearch Website and its content and design which everyone could contribute to.

Direct E-mailing of Minutes to Suresearch members

PR suggested post Oct 31st members with that facility should receive their minutes of Suresearch meetings direct by e-mail. He argued members were more likely to read minutes if they go direct to people’s inboxes rather than be informed that they are now available on the Website. A summarised version of the minutes could appear on the website which could protect anonymity. The issue needs further discussion at the next meeting.

New E-mail Contact Address

The new e-mail contact address-suresearch.org@gmail.com- was confirmed and will totally replace AF’s when he ceases to be employed by CEIMH on Oct 31st. AF suggested a rota could be created of the four members who have agreed to administer it (AF, PR, SJ and BN). Until Oct 31st both e-mail addresses will run in tandem.

Transfer of Database of Suresearch Members from CEIMH to Suresearch Officers.

Having received advice about the practicalities, legality and ease of this transfer from DP-B and BN, SJ will further research this issue and how the mailed out letter re. this issue will be worded. Members preferred the assumption transfer was Ok unless informed otherwise in writing.
