MINUTES OF FUTURE OF SURESEARCH

Meeting Monday July 12th, 2010 at CEIMH

WMRN’s Sustainability & Flexibility Funding Bid

Members looked at the criteria for bidding for monies available. It became apparent that it is available for the funding of a salaried post plus 8% expenses/office costs on top. There is £65000 available to be shared amongst 5 to 6 projects. This is a one off and will not be available next year. Members present doubted wether Suresearch wanted to go  down the road as an employer with all that entails. We wondered wether other organisations would be prepared to deal with take up this role. It was agreed to arrange a meeting with Carly Cooper and Jackie Smart to clarify the type of application which would merit attention. This was arranged for Tuesday July 20th at Radycliffe House, Hagley Road.

What Sort of Organisation?

It is given that if Suresearch is to receive funding in the future at the very minimum the very basics of an organisation are required-ie bank account plus two named officers plus a constitution. This group plans to go to Suresearch September monthly meeting with proposals and recommendations re. its future organisational status for its approval.

Stephen further elaborated on how a CIC can be a flexible structure for large organisations as well as small ones.

Costings on Equipment

Stephen produced a paper that the Web Watch group had worked up re. Suresearch’s future equipment needs regardless of wether College of Social Science can offer Suresearch a work station at Muirhead Tower or not(or anyone else for that matter) post October. It was agreed to meet with Ann Davis who is currently in negotations on this matter to raise these issues. There should be a news of any possible funding for Suresearch once the financial year’s accounts are completed (July 31st). It is understood equipment will belong to CEIMH 2(this has subsequently been shown to be incorrect-it is the property of the university).

On a separate issue Stephen spoke of the need to have a protected part of the Suresearch website, accessible only by members by password, for minutes, etc

There has been little progress since the last meeting as David Howes has been very busy on another project and Barbara has not been available. It was agreed that David would get in touch with Barbara with a view to finishing off the script she has started.

New Suresearch e-mail address

In absence of Adrian it is still not clear wether SS has a new e-mail address and who the administrators will be.
